We took on this challenge and with the 2016 Koyote have set the standard for no-cam freeride sails. This season, we aspired to set an even higher standard by tweaking the overall design of the Koyote sail in several areas. The most notable of these tweaks is the use of lighter materials to reduce swing weight and give the sail a lighter feeling when sailing, providing better control over the rig. For 2016, we gave the Koyote a more compact outline, which we have been testing in our race and slalom sails for a few years now.
BLISTERING TOP END SPEED
All learnings from the continuous R&D program for the Koncept sail line have been incorporated. However, the real secret to the Koyote’s success is the progressive leech twist and slippery upper foil profile that reduce drag and deliver a blistering top end speed. This sail is seriously fast and has topped the forty knot barrier on numerous occasions!
The foil tension is grafted for excellent draft stability when overpowered, yet the handling is soft enough for effortless maneuvers and easy pumping. The sail can be easily locked down for straight line blasting and is beautifully balanced and predictable through transitions. The combination of composite tubes and glass rod battens maintains the draft location perfectly..
An intelligent mix of X-ply and Monofilm in the construction of the sail combines durability with a crisp lively feel and blistering acceleration. Abrasion resistance enablers such as moulded soft edges on the foot and cross-over battens, batten end-protectors and a twin ply Dacron head panel increase the sail’s longevity.
