Our vision for the flagship sail of the KA Sail performance range was quite simple: create a sail that allows any serious racer to reach his or her full potential!
KA.RACE FLAGSHIP VISION
In order to achieve our vision to allow any serious racer to reach his or her full potential, we are always, consequently and continuously, developing, testing, tuning and refining these sails. Our Race sails are constantly under development and are very closely examined every time we do a new production build. The KA.RACE set-up, with its 8 carbon/composite battens and 4 cambers, is a full-blooded professional race sail created solely to win. Meet the KA.RACE! Bred to win!
2019 CAD STORY … NO COMPROMISES!
From the outside the 2019 KA.RACE actually looks almost the same as the 2018 edition, but the CAD files tell a completely different story! Furthermore, we also did a subtle update in the graphics of the KA.RACE for 2019! A powerful lower foil provides huge power and acceleration, while the slippery upper profile minimises drag, delivering limitless top end speed.
UNBELIEVABLE DRAFT STABILITY AND A SOFT, LIGHT FEEL
The relatively high foil tension in the KA.RACE teamed with the carbon/composite battens and 4 cambers enables draft stability levels that should really be experienced to be believed! The result is a lighter and softer feel with a bit less pull from up-high, which makes the sail easier to lock down especially in rougher water.
The luff round has been increased across the range, delivering far more horsepower and taking the stability in the sail to a new level. We also widened the luff sleeve and created more drive in the lower 1/3 of the sail. More twist raises the top speed and helps to “un-stick” wide-tailed slalom boards.
HI-TECH MATERIALS AND REDUCTION OF SWING WEIGHT
Hi-tech materials in the upper luff sleeve area of the KA.RACE have impacted the mast bend and leech twist for a lighter feel, enhanced acceleration, speed and stability. A notable feature is the hi-tech 2mil tri-axial laminate in the upper leech and foot panel, reducing the sail’s overall weight and assisting control by reducing the swing weight in the KA.RACE and softening the sail’s ergonomics, especially noticeably in rough conditions.
RDM VS SDM CAMBERS
Size 5.5 comes standard with RDM cambers, but SDM cambers are also supplied; sizes 6.3 and up are supplied standard with SDM cams, but are RDM compatible. SDM and RDM camber replacement sets are available.
