Every serious freeride windsurfer demands a sail that is easy, light, comfortable and forgiving, but at the same time the sail needs to maintain an impressive overall performance and top end speed.
NO-CAM FREERIDE CHALLENGE
Of course we took on this no-cam Freeride challenge and set the standard for no-cam Freeride sails with this latest edition of the KA Sail KOYOTE.
OVERALL DESIGN TWEAKS
For the 2018 season, we aspired to stay true to the extremely high standard we already set in 2017 for the KOYOTE by tweaking the overall design and performance features of the sail in several different areas. Thanks to the bright colour scheme we use in the KA Sail range, you’ll definitely get noticed on the water with the new KOYOTE!
LIGHTER FEELING, BETTER CONTROL
An important feature in the KOYOTE remains the use of lighter materials to reduce swing weight giving the sail a softer feeling and better handling and control, most noticeably when sailing in rough conditions.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
All learnings from the continuous R&D program for the KONCEPT sail line have been incorporated in the KOYOTE designs. We created a more compact outline, which we have been testing in our Race and Slalom sails for several years now.
THE SECRET OF SPEED
However, the real secret of this sail’s success is the progressive leech twist and slippery upper foil profile that reduce drag and deliver a blistering top end speed. This KOYOTE is seriously fast and has been known to top the forty knot barrier on numerous different occasions! Seriously fast Freeride!
The foil tension is grafted for excellent draft stability when overpowered, yet the handling is soft enough for effortless maneuvers and easy pumping. The sail can be easily locked down for straight down the line blasting and is extremely well balanced and beautifully predictable throughout the transitions.
AN INTELLIGENT MATERIAL MIX
The KOYOTE displays the perfect combination of composite tubes and glass rod battens, which maintain the draft location in the sail perfectly. An intelligent mix of X-ply and Monofilm materials in the construction of the sail combines durability with a crisp lively feel and blistering acceleration.
Abrasion resistance enablers such as for instance the moulded soft edges on the foot and cross-over battens, the batten end-protectors and a twin ply Dacron head panel each increase the sail’s longevity.
RDM OR SDM?
In the smaller sizes Koyote we recommend the use of an RDM mast. The larger sizes Koyote (from size 6.6) are also excellent for sailing on SDM. RDM masts give a slightly softer feel to this sail while sailing, but do not detract from the perfect performance of the Koyote! SDM gives a more direct feeling.
